Shimla: Himachal Pradesh director general of police (DGP) Sanjay Kumar has suspended Boileauganj police station SHO Viri Singh for misbehaving with a Totu resident who had come to file a complaint at the police station.
DGP Sanjay Kumar said they issued suspension orders on Saturday. "The action was taken on the basis of complaint of Nitesh Gupta filed in March," he added.
The victim, Nitesh Gupta, along with his uncle Nagender Gupta, had appealed to Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh to intervene and also written letter to the DGP demanding immediate action against SHO.

Nitesh's in his statement said, "SHO Boileauganj called me to the police station on March 18 morning to speak about my complaint, but when I reached there, cops took me inside the room and SHO kicked me on the stomach, besides slapping and punching me. The cop also abused me".
It is not the first incident of police's misconduct in Shimla. On April 9, a 60-year-old woman Radha Parihar was treated badly who had come to the woman police station of Shimla along with her son to lodge a complaint against her daughter-in-law.
